Welcome
Welcome to Caer Abred: Forum of the Druidic Order of Naturalists

Druidic Naturalism holds that there is only Nature and that the scientific method is the best suited to determine the nature of Nature. This is balanced with an aesthetic response to the world that is in line with that shared by the Druid community as a whole.

Druidic Naturalists will probably tend to be Pantheist, Agnostic or Atheist, yet see in Druidry an appropriate philosophy that allows one to honour ones Land and Ancestors in a way that establishes a healthy, and ethical, relationship with them and with ones fellow creatures.

Druidic Naturalism, as it has developed so far, embraces ritual, art and celebration as effective and satisfying ways to express this secular spirituality.

Thanks for that... :)

In school they said pure light is 'white' and the prism splits it into colours (i.e creating a spectrum of different frequencies). So isn't light 'white' not colourless? Of course any colour is down to perception, what is perceived is the effect of light, not the thing in itself. As I understand it, and grossly simplified - light consists of Photons, electro-magnetic energy, that hit the retina, sending electrical impulses down the optic nerve to the brain.
Surfaces reflect light and absorb light, depending on the proportion of frequencies absorbed/reflected we see particular colours.
At least, thats how i understand how 'colour' arises.
If anyone had been around from about 10seconds to aprox 300,000 years after the Big Bang, then all they would have actually seen was 'light' i.e photons.(In fact would not the Big Bang 'moment' have been invisible and soundless to any theoretical observer?).
To me 'Light' is a good symbol of the ultimate, source and energy of the universe even accepting modern cosmology. And obviously there would be no life on earth without the light of the Sun. And the mystics have insisted that there is a 'spiritual sun' as well as the physical sun...
