Welcome
Welcome to Caer Abred: Forum of the Druidic Order of Naturalists

Druidic Naturalism holds that there is only Nature and that the scientific method is the best suited to determine the nature of Nature. This is balanced with an aesthetic response to the world that is in line with that shared by the Druid community as a whole.

Druidic Naturalists will probably tend to be Pantheist, Agnostic or Atheist, yet see in Druidry an appropriate philosophy that allows one to honour ones Land and Ancestors in a way that establishes a healthy, and ethical, relationship with them and with ones fellow creatures.

Druidic Naturalism, as it has developed so far, embraces ritual, art and celebration as effective and satisfying ways to express this secular spirituality.

Re-Born ??

Postby phill.stonehenge » Thu Oct 01, 2009 11:49 am

When I finally woke up after being asleep for 20 years and going out and exploring again eventually it was like a light switch going on and a very strong spiritual feeling of contentment & happiness & the love for all life & Nature, It was as if I had been re born again.
It is difficult to explain exactly what I was experiencing but I think it was realising the reality of nature and how magical it is, as it did feel magical the way it happened and now I get the same sort of feeling every time I go into nature or an ancient space where I can connect with my surroundings, I love that feeling of oneness.
Peace & blessings.

I can remember a few times in my life when I had this feeling of being reborn too. It's absolutely great and sometimes terrifying but in a good way (if that makes sense). And more recently, there was the OBOD initiation into the Bardic Grove, that also has a strong rebirth theme, quite appropriately.

I think we go through many transformations in life. And we experience some form of closure at some particular moments, that are sort of like dying and being reborn. Like a phenix.

Mmmm I think that once the initial feeling of being re-born has been and gone that is when the reality of reality comes into play meaning the mundane daily rituals of mundaneness.
I also think the trick is to try and maintain ones spirituality & it is difficult, For me it is anyway, I must learn how to be patient and go on Druid time instead of wanting things to happen almost instantaneously of which do not in the real world.
I sometimes feel like a vulture waiting patiently for the animal to finally die but cant wait and have to kill it to begin the feast
Of what I have read in the O.B.O.D. course so far I already knew apart from the mythical stuff.
I mean I already have experience of ritual and making a "fire", I nearly have a good blaze every day in my garden.
Peace & blessings.

Now THAT sounds like a good habit to get into!

Is that a legacy of a previous lifestyle?

I've had odd moments of 'oneness', I suppose moments of either pure Awen, or when the Nwyfre is truly flowing through, as though the past, present and future are all there at one time, and the whole of time, space and humanitiy are connected ... doesn't last long which is just as well because it may well blow my gaskets if it did (see Rose when the Time Vortex flowed through and the Doctor/Donna!)
...the turn of the earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour. The entire planet is hurtling around the sun at sixty seven thousand miles an hour. And I can feel it.

Yes from my on the road days as a hippy with a pony and cart, Oh what fun it was.
Mind you my neighbours think I am a bit weird sitting outside next to a fire waving sage about. :)
There is nothing more delightful than keeping your cockles warm with a good oak fire, It gives off loads of heat so I have them outside in the winter too.
If I just sit indoors it begins to feel like a prison and I need to escape outside where I can connect with the beauty of Nature.
Peace & blessings.

As a fan of the outdoor fire myself I get what you're saying. I am more comfortable with the indoors than you I think, but it doesn't beat the alternative.

I love out door fires too.I've recently mastered the bow drill which is sexy and deeply spiritual. :D

I love it too. As I live in an apartment, I sometimes use the barbecue as a brazier. :D
